Who is Bryce?

I got into lifting as something that was constructive, and something I could have agency over after spending a few years taking too many withdrawals from my physical “bank account.” Soon after making my first bit of progress, I realized I was gifted at the lifting side, as well as had a mind for the complex problem solving that was coaching.

I sought out mentors and formal education, and immersed myself in learning every bit I could about what made strength happen, specifically in the context of powerlifting.

I started Calgary Barbell as a school project. It was a way to break out of the commercial gym that I was currently working in, and a way for me to do things my own way on my own terms, with heavy metal, gasp - short sleeve shirts (tattoos showing- can you believe it?!), and loud deadlifts.

Once Dillon and I started working together on educational content… that’s when things took off. I was continuing to climb the ranks competitively, and having the opportunity to travel and further educate coaches and athletes on nuances of the sport and what makes it so special to me.

As a coach, and as an educator, my goals are to provide for others those things I wish I had 8 years ago when I first stepped foot on the platform.
